Seasonal patterns
Large PC sales often cluster around summer, autumn, winter and publisher events. Older catalogue games commonly revisit the same discount band. A nearby event strengthens the case for waiting, but dates can change and not every publisher participates.
Release age and demand
New releases usually have less price history and smaller discounts. A launch purchase may still be rational for multiplayer activity, friends or immediate interest. For a single-player backlog title, several months of patience can reveal a more reliable discount floor.
Use the size of the possible saving
Compare today with the recorded low in money and percent. If the gap is tiny, waiting has little economic value. If it is £10–£20 and the game repeatedly returns to the lower band, waiting becomes a clearer choice.
